in the 70s radio stations were a powerful force across the whole of the us, and anyone with a transistor radio had access all kinds of music. live music was another matter altogether, and unless you found yourself in a major city your nights out were limited to what the local talent had to offer. this was especially so with soul and funk acts, as mainstream rock and pop was where the money was. so for small time oklahoma soul bands such as husband and wife charles and barbara burtons groups messengers inc - and later burton inc - times were tough. however, like many purveyors of soul, tough times were no match for those with determination, persistence and a story to tell. many artists scraped enough money together to make a 45 or two on their own label, but the burtons took this to another level � they got themselves organised and released their own full length lps.

in the spring of 2012 yot teamed up with scottish born vocalist soom t (renegade masters). the product of this recording session? the first track on yot 4, the moody epic funk shuffle beat banger *the cure*. rising synths, tough beats and heaps of squelch all pushed up against soom ts unmistakable flow. a sure shot was born.
as well as vocal and instrumental versions of *the cure*, yot 4 features the grinding slow tempo burner *day won* and hypnotic ballad *g.i.m.p*. to record the ep the core four piece signed up a fifth member, multi-instrumentalist markus pyorala. it follows up last years *bitch bender*, which mixmag made album of the month, and drops on harmonia and losonofono.

gogo music keeps at it with this stunning and real heartfelt song titled *never*, which gave ralf gums album *never leaves you* its name. featuring chicagoan crooner jon pierce and kafele on trumpet and background vocals, the song received much praise since the long-player was released. finally it receives its single release with remixes by no one less than the legendary louie vega.

we are really happy to finally announce the release of the 7th record as the next in the series of full eps. dustins debut record comes as a result of nearly two years work between artist and label to get the perfect tracks for this full release and we feel it has been well worth the wait.

killekill 014 is being delivered by alex cortex. on the a-side hyperfocus combines a heavily distorted kickdrum with uplifting trance chords and a breakbeat feeling as if this was the most normal thing in the world. the result is an outstanding anthem that can be used on all floors, whether they are techno, house or breakbeat.by force of attrition is a typical alex cortex-track, driving and static at the same time, slowly moving, hypnotic and deep. the b-side features a remix of hyperfocus by skudge. the swedish duo recently released an ep of alex cortex on their label skudge presents and in return remix this track here for killekill. they extract the breakbeat sounds of the original and use them for a warm minimalistic house tool driven by a smacky wooden snare.

hello?repeat 022 brings flash and anavi. both tracks in essence bring a linear and continuous flow, to many, a daze maxim signature in the sense that each element does not scream for attention alone, it is the combination of them which creates the overall impact. a dose of what we need when we need it. it is to do with structure, it is about the way in which elements are thrown in adding that bit of surprise effect which is able to stunt and amuse us all in a very good way. flash starts with a solid bass line, the vocal flash, a hypnotic cosmic/trippy element and a hoovering noise on the background making up the intro. the locomotive sounding high-hats then slam in, which together with the bass line complete a dance floor bliss of a track with all that groove.

since day one, radiq has been showing an affinity for the afro-centric funkiness and carefully-honed sound design of modern days minimal music. as in many of his previous tracks, all six songs of >vida noir< has this certain kind of unyielding quality - long, hypnotic grooves with muted kick drum set the stage for more emancipated experiments in texture and sound design. on >a long hot summer break<, for example, the effect is utterly obvious as kicking its ass into gear with syncopated drums and strain of warm chords before animated vocal sample slips in like fingerprint. while deeply seductive interplay of those chugging percussion gives way to delighted horn of >a-dieu<, warm chord and acoustic guitar of >calling< is perfect example for radiq�s masterful sound and texture. >machine codes modified< has rather restrained structure for him, but tightly woven drums speaks eloquently about its carefully arranged funkiness and dance floor functionality. despite their repetitiveness, its surprising how well these productions forming cohesive solidarity as an album. presumably, it owes a lot to wide tonal vocabulary which is radiqs hallmark - these tracks has something concentrated, vivid qualities. this album sits just at the edge of the dance floor, but also performs its exceptional strength on intense home listening. dusky synth and truncated surge of bass of >vida noir< constructing something dark, before closing this album with modulated afro-acoustic guitar and deep falsetto voice (by the producer himself) of >rondo<. this album offers up an engaging and comprehensive amalgamation from the inquisitive sound by the maestro

authentic pew presents with its fourth release the debut of the collaboration between angel costa & attemporal under the moniker attac. forcing rhythms and well chosen acid ingredients open a wide space for a hypnotising mindtrip. the following remix by perthil & aerts reinvents the previous elements more to the floor. as patria from paris focussing on their 9-minutes-journey the deeper shades of techno, before tomohiko sagae breaks it all down with industrial noises and terrifying beats.

the 12 track album was written and produced since the turn of 2013 and mixed with erol alkan at the phantasy sound, the labels own studio in london. a difficult trick to master but like carl craigs more songs about food and revolutionary art, plastikmans consumed or more recently the work of four tet, the album works as a cohesive whole rather than a disparate collection of tracks

after appearances on idle hands and brstl, rhythmic theory returns to their own imprint to further explore gritty textures and mysterious moods within house and techno frameworks. where theory001 featured the somewhat soothing, melancholic tones of >echo vibe< and >omega syndrome<, this second installment comes caked in sonic muck and abrasive attitude.its not all dark and foreboding, as the graceful filter-swept key refrain of >siren song< will attest, but it takes a barrage of rasping hats and bludgeoning kicks and toms before such niceties can be foisted upon our ears. while there is an optimistic lilt to the particular notes the melody calls out, in the midst of such machismo percussion it cant help but feel emotionally ambiguous, continuing the tone set out in the first rhythmic theory releases.there is no such confusion over b side cut >genesis< from the apocalyptic boom of the opening kick to the rapid gun fire of the snare this is a track that wants to inflict damage. at the midway point the searing beat melts away as a wash of delay-riddled speech knocks you from your centre of gravity, only for the drums to come whipping back in to pick up the slack. even the sole synth note that rears its head is devoid of compassion, pulsing a creepy, robotic intonation through the clamour.

optimo trax is an offshoot label of optimo music for tracks aimed at djs/dancefloors. yes, we know there are too many record labels already, but we felt an overriding desire to start another one as so much music that didn t seem quite right for optimo music (i.e. music that was specifically designed for dancing) kept coming our way. like the parent label, optimo trax will release music by new artists and excavate forgotten classics. all four tracks were recorded in 1992. staples of jd twitchs dj sets at the timem and all tracks he still plays to this day.

when irr track hound ada goes sniffing around the corners in cologne, she means business. one can imagine her happy panting when she learned that she just intercepted unbelievably huge and simultaniously unreleased material from matt karmil. here is the result of this strange event. matt karmil is letting us all inhale his scent.
